Fish Oils and Rich Omega 3

Updated: May 3, 2021

Fish oil capsules, also known as Omega-3, are supplements that are taken when a regular diet does not receive enough Omega-3s. It’s important to work on your diet before adding these fish capsules to your cabinet, because many foods are rich in Omega-3s. An average diet where two meals out of the week containing fish, or any other foods high in omegas, should be sufficient enough to still reap the benefits in lieu of taking the supplements.

Some of the main benefits to taking these supplements include having healthy joints and heart. Obviously, these are two of the many functions that the body needs to keep a healthy life. Taking fish oil supplements acts as an anti-inflammatory which helps reduce the pain and swelling of arthritis. This is the tenderness and swelling of the joints. Fish oil capsules will help alleviate the pain from stiff joints. It doesn’t completely remove the medical issue from the equation, but it does help those who take it enough to where they may not need to take prescription drugs. Taking the supplements will help a healthy heart by reducing high cholesterol levels, which reduces high blood pressure and lowers the risk of heart disease. Science has shown that fish oils can also help aid with some mental functions, like depression and ADHD.

Omega-3 fish oils are essential to life, but taking too much can have drawbacks. Some mild ones include bad breath due to the fishy aftertaste, heartburn, nausea, diarrhea, or a rash. Some extreme circumstances have been reported where there was excessive bleeding and/or low blood pressure. This only happens when too much is consumed.

Always consult a doctor when consuming any supplements.
